Arles 6 released
Arles Image Web Page Creator version 6 has just been released.
Image overlay borders
The new image overlay borders option allows you to create photo-realistic borders in one click. You can create your own borders in Photoshop and tell Arles to use those or use one of the included border, some of which are shown below.

Multi-file renaming tool
The multi-file renaming tool has been completely rewritten. You can now add the old filename, the file date, the folder name, today's date, IPTC fields, EXIF fields and Arles titles to your file names.

Image logo and text options
Image logos and texts can now be rotated, the image logo is scalable and watermarks can be tweaked using the Watermark intensity option.
The screenshot below shows how image texts can now be added on the image border by selecting the Add text on image border in the lower left corner.

Automatic EXIF rotation
Images are now rotated automatically on basis of the EXIF information for cameras that set the EXIF position field, such as the newer Canon models and the Nikon D70.
Arles goes one step further: many cameras add EXIF information to the image, but do not set the EXIF rotation information field correctly. Arles allows you to automatically fix this without degrading your image quality. Only one byte of EXIF information gets changed if you rotate the image in Arles and click the confirmation window. After that the image will show up in the correct position in any application that supports EXIF rotation.
Image cropping
There have been many small interface tweaks to make working in Arles more efficient. Naming all of them would make this page quite long and probably a bit boring. The full list is available on our forum in this topic.
One example is the Define crop area window. In this window you can specify a crop area for your images without modifying them. The crop settings are stored in a database, which means that at any time you can change it back if you didn't like the crop setting after all. In previous Arles versions you had to specify the crop area for the thumbnail and image separately. The new Both option allows you to do it in one go.

The best way to evaluate all new features is by downloading the
3 MB file, which takes 30 seconds to install. And while you are doing
that we already have started working on the next Arles 6.1
beta version
which
will
be a
free upgrade
for all
Arles 6 users.
